Running an Energy Efficient Home Office

Running an energy efficient home office is a great way to not only save on finances and energy costs but also the perfect way to start going green! There are a number of different ways to reorganize a home office and set it up to where it is more energy efficient. Here are a few simple tips!

Look to Lighting

A good place to start is to check out lighting. Depending on where a home office is located, determine if it is possible to keep the majority of lights off during the day or minimize the amount of time lights stay on. Start practicing turning them off each and every time the office is vacant.

Use Energy Efficient Office Equipment

With going green being so important in today’s world, electronic suppliers are also working hard to ensure that office equipment such as computers and fax machines are more energy efficient. Investing in some of this new equipment is the perfect way to really cut back on the amount of energy that is being used in a home office. Not only will there be a reduction in the amount of energy being used but many people claim that with the amount they save on their electric bills, the equipment soon pays for itself.

Turn Everything Off at the End of the Day

It can be very tempting to leave computers and office equipment on throughout the day and night. Start practicing a new habit of once the work day is over of turning all equipment off till the next working day.
